Separating the Forbidden City from Beijing, China, Tiananmen Square is the largest city square in the world. It was named for the Tiananmen Gate, considered to be the front entrance of the Forbidden City, and is considered a national symbol of China with enormous cultural significance and has been the site of important events and protests. A series of Four Patch blocks surround a center square and triangle design which honors this remarkable place.
