Starting out as a major economic center of for steel production, Pittsburgh is second only to Philadelphia in population. Downtown Pittsburgh is located at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers, giving it a unique triangular shape. The city is connected through a series of bridges which crisscross the rivers. Challenged by the decline of the steel industry, Pittsburgh has bounced back and is now a center for business and technology, including a Google campus and a number of universities. Our unique sixteen-pointed star is a tip of the hat to this amazing city.
