Starting originally as an offshoot of Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, the city of El Paso, Texas is located on the Northern bank of the Rio Grande river. In the late 1800's, El Paso was a boomtown known as the "Six Shooter Capital" for its reputation as a haven for gambling and lawlessness. Surrounded by the Chihuahuan Desert, El Paso is now home to over seventy Fortune 500 companies as well as being an important entry into the United States from Mexico. This starflower block is a symbol of the beauty of the flora and fauna found in the nearby desert.
