While the true origin of Buffalo, New York's name isn't certain, it is widely believed that is it is named for nearby Buffalo Creek. Interestingly, there are no bison found in the area. Historically, Buffalo was important in America's history as it was the last stop on the Underground Railroad. Many African-Americans crossed into Canada via the Niagara river on their way to freedom. To mark the significance of the Underground Railroad, this block resembles a turning train wheel.
