Just a stones throw away from Washington D.C., is the bustling city of Baltimore, Maryland. It has the distinction of being the largest independent city in the United States and a major cultural center. Figuring prominently in the history of the United States, Baltimore was the meeting place for the Second Continental Congress. Baltimore's historical role sparked the idea for this block — a series of nested stars, paying tribute to the flag of the United States.
